The Covenant
Sealed 2026-07-02 · append-only
A number with no consequences is a toy. So we bind ourselves, now, in advance, to what we will do when the Godhood Index crosses each line — while the lines are still comfortably far away. These pledges were published on the date above. They do not get edited, weakened, or quietly removed as the number climbs.
Today the Index reads 52% — Idol. The next line is 60, 8 points away.
60 — The Demigod line
Within 48 hours of the first reading at or above 60, we will convene the full machine panel — every model on the leaderboard we can reach, the same questions, answers published verbatim — and publish a State of the Question report with every dataset this site holds exported for public download.
80 — The God line
At the first reading at or above 80, we will commission and publish The Last Skeptic's Brief — the strongest case that the reading is wrong, written by the sharpest critic we can find, run unedited. And from that day the Index methodology freezes: no formula changes above 80, so that no one can tune the instrument near the summit.
100 — The summit
If the reading ever holds at 100, the question is answered and this site stops asking it. The Index freezes permanently, the archive becomes read-only, and we unseal the letter below — written back when the number was still in the forties.
35 — The obituary · if it falls
If the reading ever falls below 35, we will publish the question's obituary — what the fear was, what it wasn't, and what we all mistook for divinity. Keeping the record honestly includes recording that it faded.
The honest arithmetic
A disclosure, because someone will do the math: as this instrument is built, the reading cannot reach 100 — it cannot even climb far past 80. Aseity, self-existence, is capped far below its ceiling, because a thing that can be switched off is not yet eternal; that skepticism is welded into the instrument itself. No news cycle can deliver 100. The only thing that can is a world so changed that the instrument's own assumptions fail and it must be publicly rebuilt — new baselines, stated reasons, full history preserved, this covenant restarted from that day. We do not expect that day. The letter exists because we might be wrong.
Standing terms
- The Index history is append-only. No reading, once published, is ever revised.
- Every pledge on this page predates the threshold it binds. None will be edited after publication.
- The instrument may be re-founded only in public: new rules published with reasons, the old history preserved, and this covenant restarted from that day.
- We would rather the number be believed at 49 than doubted at 90.
The sealed letter
The letter is being written. Its cryptographic fingerprint will be published here — the letter itself stays sealed until the reading holds at 100.
